4 SURPRISING SPOTS IN FLORENCE YOU DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT

In this article, you can find cool and photogenic spots in Florence which are perfect if you are a photographer or you dislike very touristy spots.

Little secret: I’m partly Florentine. My grandpa was from Florence so I’ve been in this city countless times since I have family here. Last time I visited I really wanted to check out spots I’ve never seen before.

After a careful research, I found these four. I loved them so much that I wanted to share with you!

Enjoy!

Grand Hotel Minerva is situated directly in Piazza Santa Maria Novella (very close to the train station), very easy to find. You can enjoy an incredible view of Florence sitting by the hotel’s outdoor pool. We had a great time sipping our mojitos that came with finger food. Very relaxing.

Address: Piazza di Santa Maria Novella, 16, 50123 Firenze

2.   Grand Hotel Cavour

The view from the Lounge Bar of Terrazza Michelangelo is just stunning (unfortunately no pool though!). My friend and I had our “aperitivo” looking at the sunset over the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. The environment was very comfortable and private. The perfect cool spot to enjoy the sunset in Florence.

The best thing about these 2 hotels is that there were NO TOURISTS AT ALL. I found tourists pretty much unaware of all the hidden terraces spread around the city.

Address: Via del Proconsolo, 3, 50122 Firenze

Our San Miniato and Ponte Vecchio Cappuccinos 🙂

Very close to the famous “Mercato di Firenze (Florence Market). I literally sit in this coffee shop for 2 days, working at my computer. For lunch, you can enjoy multiple delicious types of pasta for at a very reasonable price. But the most awesome feature about this place is their “hand-made” artistic cappuccinos! The barista is a true artist and will paint with foam and chocolate whatever view of Florence you desire.

Address: Via del Giglio, 59, 50123 Firenze

4.    LuisaViaRoma

“Relaxing in luxury”. Just after Piazza del Duomo, while walking to Ponte Vecchio through Via Roma, don’t forget to stop and check out this incredibly well-designed terrace by Patricia Urquiola. You can relax in the “oasis” or partecipate to one of the many events hosted year throughout the year. So pretty!

Address: Via Roma, 19/21/r, 50123 Firenze

TIP: Research your next destination on travel blogs and Pinterest posts before leaving. I find them much more useful than most guides and they always make me discover spots I’ve never heard about! For example, check out Girl in Florence before heading to Firenze again 😉 and thank me later!
